Well, Mr. Umpire, you had better do your homework before you step onto the field. Below are links to information on certified and banned bats that may show up on your field.
NFHS Certified and Banned Softball Bats
NFHS Softball Rule 1-3-5 indicates that in order for a bat to be legal it must: 1) meets the ASA Bat Performance Standard, and 2) be labeled with the permanent ASA approved certification mark. If both aspects of this rule are not met, the bat does NOT meet NFHS rule specifications. In addition, all bats shall meet the other specifications in Rule 1-3-5.

For a list of NFHS and NCAA BESR and BBCOR certified bats for 2010, 2011 and 2012 see the NCAA Certified Bats Web Site hosted by the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
