Safe or Out?

Jackie Robinson makes his famous steal of home in the eighth inning of game 1 of the 1955 World Series. The Yankees won the game 6-5, but the Dodgers won the series. Catcher Yogi Berra disagreed with umpire Bill Summers. Below is the video. You make the call!

I'm going to go with safe, just because the catcher's glove seems to be blocking the half of the plate that the camera can't see. Maybe Jackie's foot caught that far corner of the plate. As an umpire, I try to always give the umpire the benefit of the doubt, even in painfully slow instant replay :)

One thing's for sure... The batter could have taken a half-hearted swing and got a catcher's interference call! Yogi was standing on the plate when the pitch was coming!

Enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work!
